Run the Veterans’ Day 10K in Washington D.C. on November 13th to raise money to help single mothers by supporting First Shift Justice Project!

  • Event Details: The Veterans’ Day 10K is on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 8 a.m., starting and finishing at West Potomac Park, Washington D.C.

  •  Fee: The 10K race fee is $35, paid to Pacers Running at the time of registration for the race.

  •  Goal: There is no minimum fundraising commitment. Our collective goal is $8000 – and all donations will be matched by an anonymous donor! In its first year, First Shift raised $4370 with only 5 participating runners! This year, we aim to double that – at least!

How do I sign up? Here’s how you do it!

  •  Sign up for the race! The race is on Sunday, November 13th, starting at West Potomac Park at 8 a.m. When you register, select “Join existing team.” Our team name is (predictably) Run Like a Mother!

  •  Join our fundraising team on Crowdrise! Under the “Donate” button on the right, there is a smaller black button that says “Fundraise for this campaign.” Click it to join the team! Note: This button may not be visible if you try to access the site from your phone.

  • Let your family and friends know you are running as a fundraiser and ask them to sponsor you by donating to First Shift Justice Project! In the months before the race, we will send you email templates and other information to help you fundraise.

Even if you decide not to run, you can help us recruit runners! Please spread the word about this event to everyone you know!

Will I get a t-shirt? Heck yes! Thanks to Another Mother Runner, a running community based in Portland, Oregon, t-shirts will be available to First Shift Runners!

T-shirts will be FREE for all runners who register for the race and raise at least $100 for First Shift by September 20th. They can also be purchased by First Shift supporters for $15.
