First Shift Justice Project receives funding to tackle health disparities in the District

“No woman in D.C should be fired or suffer the risk of job loss because they’re having a baby, “ said Executive Director, Laura Brown from First Shift Justice Project.

First Shift Justice Project will receive $200,000 from the Health Equity Fund, managed by the Greater Washington Community Foundation to educate women and family caregivers about their workplace rights and support them in negotiating with employers about, pregnancy discrimination, family responsibilities discrimination, family & sick leave, and workplace accommodations for pregnancy or breastfeeding.
